Why Play Matters More Than Ever

Children today have more opportunities than ever. They also face more pressure.

Between packed schedules, organised activities, academic expectations and increasing time spent on screens, childhood has become carefully curated. In the pursuit of giving children every advantage, we can sometimes overlook one of the most important ingredients in healthy development: play.

Not play as a reward once the “important” things are finished but play itself - the kind that encourages children to imagine, experiment, collaborate, make mistakes and try again.

Decades of research show that these experiences build the qualities children will rely on - confidence, resilience, creativity, emotional intelligence and the ability to adapt in a rapidly changing world. As artificial intelligence reshapes the way we live and work, preparing children for the future isn’t about teaching them all the answers.
